How Motor Magnets Are Used in Electric Vehicles
Motor magnets are a fundamental part of electric vehicles. They provide the energy necessary for the vehicle's powertrain and can reduce the overall energy consumption. The most common type of motor magnet is the neodymium type. This material has a high magnetic strength and is characterized by a high intrinsic coercivity. However, the neodymium motor is susceptible to corrosion, which may lead to crumbling. To prevent this, the neodymium magnet has a protective coating to reduce exposure to the environment. Nickel plating is a standard method for this purpose. Polymer and lacquer protective coatings are also available. Samarium cobalt motor magnets are ideal for high temperature applications. They have outstanding temperature resistance, magnetic strength, and reliability even without oxidation protection. For high-performance motors, permanent magnets should be made of strong materials. Neodymium and samarium magnets are strong, but they are not required to provide useful mech
